When Jim spoke about Katie, he always came back to the word genuine, and I couldn’t choose a better word to describe their wedding day on July 29th. It was hot and busy as florists, caterers, and attendants arrived at the venue: Northeast Wedding Chapel. We each were setting up and preparing for the wedding. As I like to do, I walked around the venue with my second shooter, Megan, scoping out locations to photograph and speaking with vendors.
We had finished the detail shots when it came time for Katie to put her wedding dress on. Having done Katie’s bridal portraits a few weeks earlier, I had already seen her beautiful gown. It was her mother’s wedding dress, and was altered by Martha who seamlessly customized it to Katie. It was special to see her mother beside her as she got ready and put her mother’s and now Katie’s wedding dress on.
As Katie slipped on her dress and held her bouquet, her face shone as she smiled and talked. A clear radiance was present around both her and Jim, and it showed when they were saying I do. There was a twinkle in their eyes as they lightheartedly enjoyed each moment of the ceremony and their wedding day.
Jim and Katie’s genuine love for each other and the joy they had in seeing and celebrating with their friends and family made it easy to capture the heartfelt emotions of the day. It is sad to think I am finished photographing their story, but I am beyond excited that they are now journeying through life hand in hand as husband and wife. Jim and Katie, may y’all grow even closer as the years go by and keep that glimmer in your eyes.
